In a 23-22 vote, the US House of Foreign Affairs passed a non-binding resolution recognizing the Armenian genocide on Friday March 5, calling for President Obama to officially recognize the genocide. The White House pressured the committee not to pass it, claiming it would damage Turkish-American relations.

On April 11, Holocaust Remembrance Day, PBS will be airing a new docu-drama, the "most accurate-ever adaptation of one of the world's most widely read memoirs," based on The Diary of Anne Frank.

PBS is partnering with the Great Books Foundation and Facing History & Ourselves to promote both the film and educational resources/opportunities including:

• a teacher's guide written in partnership with Facing History and Ourselves
• discussion guide for book and film clubs

The Holocaust Awareness Museum is sad to announce the passing away of Melvin Newman, a long time friend, volunteer and colleague.
Melvin was a World War II veteran who, along with hundreds of other young Jewish GIs, liberated concentration camps. Along with the Jewish War Veterans Post 697, he created a Holocaust project to educate young people.

On Wednesday January 27th, the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, Holocaust Survivor Kurt Herman spoke to members of the Planned Parenthood-sponsored Rainbow Room in Doylestown PA.
The Rainbow Room is a regional center for lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgendered youth who need a supportive, safe, and empowering environment where their needs and questions can be answered.
