"Hearing one person tell their story gave a completely different perspective to what happened, as it wasn't about statistics or about a nation as a whole, but one person who lost his family and home." ~O. Avery (student)

Phil Di Giorgio Remembered

The staff and volunteers at the Holocaust Awareness Museum mourn the passing of Phil DiGiorgio one of our revered liberators. As a member of the 42nd Infantry division, Phil helped to liberate the infamous extermination camp, Dachau. He later served as a speaker for our organization, specifically going to Catholic Schools.

Fellow Dachau liberator Art Stern, a long time member of our museum remembers him fondly as a stalwart individual who made a real impact on many students. Phil's legacy includes the donation of his army jacket which we proudly display at our museum.
