Phil Holtje was born and raised in Upstate New York and graduated with a BA in History from Binghamton University (2006). He then moved to the Philadelphia and earned an MA in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at West Chester University in May 2010. He is currently working on a series of publications that focus on the commemoration of 20th century genocides in popular music.
